Review in Salad Days

The leaping sprites on the cover of Salad Days match my mood perfectly! What a delight to see The Mirror of Pharos featured in the autumn edition of this brilliant magazine.

Salad Days is a mine of information for parents, teachers and carers in Uttlesford, South Cambs and North Herts. It suggests lots of great reads for kids, all chosen and reviewed by Dr Jo Burch, founder of the Words in Walden literary festival.

You can read the full review below. I loved Jo’s comments on the characters, especially Jago. She sees him as ‘a mixture of Fagin, Worzel Gummidge, Salvador Dali, Crocodile Dundee and every conman you’ve ever read about (and wanted to by tricked by).’

She’s spot on. Jago is full of mischief and more bluster than the autumn winds that blow him in! I had great fun creating him. This sketch by children’s illustrator, Amanda Pike, captures him perfectly.
